The World We Can’t See – Ephesians 6: 10-13, Daniel 10: 1-3, 10-21
Summary of Sermon
Paul tells us that our true enemies are not people, but rulers in dark places and persons we cannot see. We fight not just Lucifer, but all of his minions as well.
In Daniel 10, we get to see a very good example of this. Daniel is praying and he is without an answer to a dream for 21 days, The messenger angel shows up and tells Daniel that he was sent right away but the Prince of Persia held him up, this spirit being held up Gabriel. The Prince mentioned is not a man, but a fallen angel. The battle was such that Michael, one of the Archangels had to come and rescue Gabriel.
Michale is mentioned in Jude as having fought Satan over the body of Moses in the wilderness. If we take a look at the timelines, we will see that these events are more than 960 years apart. So Michael was still fighting for almost 1000 years. Gabriel exits and tells Daniel that the Prince of Greece is coming. This refers to the next regime that would rule under Alexander the Great. As we close out chapter 10, we are told that Michael is the Prince of Daniel’s people, Israel. These battles go on all around us, good versus evil, light versus dark, and on, they have been going on for millennia and they are still going on. The world we don’t see is more real than the one we touch and feel every day. Our true fight, like Daniel’s, is with the rulers in the world behind the world we see.
