The Life Blood of a Church is Missions - Acts 1:8, Matt 28:16 20
Summary of Sermon
We see these two accounts of the same event; one in Matthew and one in Acts written by Luke. Jesus instructs to apostles, the eleven as they are called in Matthew to spread the Good News of the Gospel.
We see the command as recorded in Matthew tells us “Go’ or rather ‘as we are going’ referring to lifestyle, as we are going, we are to make disciples. Tell others the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus. Once saved, we are to baptize them and then make disciples of them.
In Acts 1:8, we are told about the scope of our ministry, first in Jerusalem (locally), then in Judea (in our country), in Samaria (people we don’t like) and then in the uttermost parts of the world; everyone else. Unfortunately, these folks stayed in Jerusalem and God had to send persecution to move, see Acts 8:1-2.
We also see for the first time in Acts 13:1-3, a church sending out missionaries to do a job, then later these men returning to give a report. As long as there are churches, we are to be spreading the Good News, the Gospel to all who will listen.
