The Bible Does Not Need Our Help - 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
Summary of Sermon
The Bible is complete. We do not need to add to it, take from it or re-interpret it in our modern times. We need to know it and obey what it says. Paul tells young Timothy that the Bible is ‘inspired’, literally God-breathed, God used many, many writers over 1500 years or so to complete the scriptures, but the message is His and His alone. We have all He wants us to know. There are no more ‘new’ revelations coming.
The Bible is able to teach us proper doctrine, reprove us (tell us what to stop doing), correct us (tells us what to start doing), show us how to live righteous (how to live pleasing to God) and make us complete and ready to live out and do good works to bring glory to God. We are saved to live in good works, Ephesians 2: 8-10.
