Same Evidence – Two Responses John 11: 45-57

Summary of Sermon

In some of the previous chapters, if you read chapter 10 and others, the Pharisees accuse Jesus of being possessed by a demon. But Jesus is about to remove all doubt as to who He is. He raised Lazarus from the dead; he had been in the grave for 4 days. There were people from Jerusalem who came and were mourning with the family. So Jesus raised him from the dead in front of many witnesses and He simply called Lazarus out.

There were two responses, one- many more people believed who He was and became His followers.

Two – others saw the things He did, reported them to the Pharisees and were a party to the plot to kill Him. But for sure they all knew who He was. They had seen Him raise the dead. There was no doubt that Jesus was God, the Messiah.

In our world today, most people are not atheists; they know there is a God. They know that Jesus is real, that He did walk the earth and that today 2000 years later, His words and His churches, His followers (all of us imperfect ones) are here. The evidence of Jesus’ godship is clear even now. There are still 2 reactions; one worships Him as the Messiah and the other refuses to submit to Him as the Messiah. Which one are you?
