Paul is writing here to talk about some of the things that happened to him from people in the churches as he served them. He also talks about how he acted and reacted to these attacks.

Always address people with meekness and gentleness. This is not always easy to do, we feel the need to strike out and make our point and we end up hurting someone or destroying our testimony. 1-2

Remember that we are not fighting people- often the people are controlled by evil spirits, in some cases lost people, are possessed by an evil spirit and we hurt the person but the spirit just moves to the next victim.

Our weapon is the truth. Make sure you know the truth about a topic that you are about to engage in and if not just walk away or do not get dragged into a fight. When we know the truth and we can speak the truth, we can tear down the arguments of others or they will often bow out of the conversation. 4-5
