Bruised But NOT Broken: Isaiah 42:1-5; Matt 12:16-21
Summary of Sermon
One of the most amazing things that we learn about the Messiah is that He is a gentleman. The bruised reed was often the end for the reed, it was useless—but Jesus is so gentle that he is not going to break it. In the same way, the smoldering flax Jesus will not put out.
You and I are like these two examples, we come to Jesus bruised, with our failures, sins and problems and he gently takes us and restores us. He makes us whole and useful for the Kingdom. Jesus does not make our hurts worse; He heals us.
In the same manner when we come with just a little flame, just a little spark, He does not snuff us out. Rather Jesus kindles us and helps our light to truly shine for Him.
