A Fallen Generation - Proverbs 30: 11-17

Summary of Sermon

The book of Proverbs is Solomon imparting wisdom to his son. In this passage, he highlights a serious situation and the consequences of it. The unruly youthful generations have been normal for all of mankind and in this passage, Solomon lays out the fall of a generation for us;

There is no respect for mother and father. They ridicule or simply have no regard for their parents. As such, they are unable to train their tongues and their mouths are filled with filth and rude speech. They are not respectful in their speech, simply spewing hurt and hate. Their mouths are described as dangerous like those with fangs.

Sadly, these folks are not able to see their own sins, and their hypocrisy and see everyone else who does not think like them as evil, only they are their ilk are good. They are needy; always taking and taking, never contributing and never seeming to want to grow up and take responsibility for themselves. According to verse 17, their end will be destruction.
